Job description

Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable experience as a functional and technical manager over the Project Delivery Group (PDG), extensive variety, and frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology (IT) Branch? The Employment Development Department is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the PDG. The IT Manager I works as the functional and technical manager over the PDG in support of the Department's mission critical, high profile projects in one of the most complex technical environments.
Under the general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager II over the Enterprise Strategies and Project Management Office (ESPMO), the IT Manager I (ITM I) plans, organizes, directs, and leads multi-disciplinary staff in the PDG within the Technology Governance Division. The PDG is responsible for providing a variety of project management services that are vital to the successful implementation and ongoing support of EDD projects and initiatives. PDG performs its roles and responsibilities in a collaborative and transparent manner to achieve effective working partnerships with all business and IT staff engaged in IT project management activities. PDG conducts governance oversight throughout every IT project and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Additionally they conduct project risk and issue management identification, business analysis, IT solutions analysis, schedule and milestone compliance, process reengineering, and change management. The incumbent contributes toward the growth of the ITB into a customer-focused service organization by developing and implementing policies and procedures for progressive information solutions and by providing feedback to others within the Branch.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Background Investigation Requirement
