Responsibilities*
75% Project Management
- Responsible for management, performance, and completion of small improvement projects that impact billing and revenue cycle.
- Responsible for coordinating activities of project or project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects. Must be familiar with project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.
- Implement productivity standards, resolving operational problems related to billing and revenue cycle, maintain reference manuals, and implement new procedures based on up-to-date billing requirements.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results by creating and monitoring performance indicators to verify department productivity goals and auditing for quality and quantity in the completion of accounts.
- Educates staff in billing and collections policies and procedures; responsible for maintaining any new training content.
- Identifies, resolves, and communicates problems and barriers to the Clinic Manager and Associate Chair for Hospital Dentistry.
- Implements systems, policies, and procedures pertaining to daily work processes that impact billing.
10% Provides expert knowledge of dental/medical billing, follow up and collections by assisting staff in resolving complex accounts using existing policies and procedures, payment rules, and other various resources. Develop a comprehensive, cross-functional understanding of revenue cycle and business process.
10% Maintain current working knowledge of CMS and Medicaid regulations related to billing for multiple dental specialties and implement processes to ensure compliance with regard to specific payer system requirements.
5% Monitors expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in third party billing and collections.
- Proficient knowledge of procedure and diagnostic coding as it relates to dental and medical billing.
- Expert knowledge of Provider Enrollment with insurance carriers
- Previous experience with an automated dental or medical billing and accounts receivable system.
