Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will assist in providing leadership for Student Inclusion and Belonging that enhances the student experience, promotes personal development and academic success for all students at Georgia College & State University (GCSU) through leadership development, community building, support, and education.

Responsibilities

Programming - 45%
Assist and/or lead the planning and implementation of programs and events such as Menstruation Stations, Women's Leadership Conference, Community Building Programming, Cultural Heritage Month Programming, Unity Week, Inclusive Campus Climate Workshops, Identity Development programming, Wellness Programming, Project BRAVE (Interpersonal Violence Prevention) Programming, and Restorative Practices. May help facilitate educational workshops on various topics.
Advising - 30%
Provides leadership in the development of student leadership initiatives,including advising student organizations, peer facilitators and fostering student learning and development by serving as a role model, mentor, and educator.
Administrative Support - 10%
Performs standard administrative tasks including gathering program data, drafting reports, conducting program assessment, and developing programmatic budgets.
Communications - 10%
Assists with the development and implementation of marketing and program promotion including departmental newsletter and social media management.
Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
The Graduate Assistant performs other duties as assigned and participates in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Other Required Qualifications
Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Other" attachment in application.
Maintain academic good standing. If a student's grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
This position will work in¿person 19 hours per week.
Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
Course loads for Graduate Assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
