Job description

Job title: Project Analyst

Department: Project Management

Manager: Director of Project Operations

The Role:

As a Project Analyst at Happy Cog, you’ll be key to supporting our Project Managers and Technical Leads in the successful delivery of client projects at Happy Cog. You’ll help to create solutions that bring together end-user needs and business goals. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will have part ownership over the ideal balance of features and functionality to ensure original business goals are met.

The ideal candidate will be able to become a bridge between the various disciplines at Happy Cog working alongside the Design, Development, and Marketing teams. You’re comfortable working in the unknown and enjoy research and diving into the weeds of project challenges. You’ll also work closely with the Program Manager, Product Experiences and the Product Experiences service group within Happy Cog to build a best in class product delivery program.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll support the project management team with various organizational needs to ensure a project’s successful delivery, and enhance communication and collaboration within and between project teams.

  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day project operations, including scheduling meetings, and running daily scrums, planning meetings, and retrospectives.
  • Monitor project scope and risks and help craft plans to mitigate.
  • Assisting the Project Manager and technical leads in crafting effective project communications.
  • Provide weekly status updates to management, internal team, and clients.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.
  • Occasionally assist with content entry for websites and apps.

You’ll perform research to gain insights and help make targeted recommendations to support our clients’ business objectives and needs.

  • Conduct research to develop a deep understanding of a team and client’s needs, new technologies, and trends in the market.
  • Capture and codify takeaways from retrospectives to continuously improve internal processes and workflows.
  • Use research to proactively recommend solutions and emerging technologies to clients.
  • Work with the internal business development team to identify and nurture new opportunities for our current clients.

You’ll codify and disseminate the vision for a project, ensuring all team members understand the broader strategic goals and success criteria.

  • Support in defining the project vision and business objectives with all key project stakeholders, including clients, project managers, designers, technical leads, and business development.
  • Ensure the product vision is visible, transparent, and shows what the team will work on next based on agreed upon feature prioritization.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager and Technical Lead on a project to ensure the product vision can be delivered within defined time and budget parameters.
  • Provide constructive feedback and "challenge" ideas that deviate from the strategy and vision.

You’ll monitor project tasks to ensure team members have what they need to be successful.

  • Define and groom project tasks, ensuring that tickets have relevant details, accurate prioritization, and clear success criteria.
  • Build, edit, and maintain project backlogs with support from the Project Manager, Technical Lead and the client.
  • Prioritize and triage client UAT feedback to ensure requests are clear and prioritized before assigning to the development team to resolve.
  • Coordinate with the internal QA team to ensure features are tested and verified before being delivered to the client.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excel at turning complex and technical concepts into actionable items to be planned, prioritized, and integrated into the team’s roadmap.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods to support brand and digital strategy.
  • Willingness to research and adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and processes.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences both internally and externally.
  • Able to work closely with all project stakeholders including clients, other vendors, and internal disciplines.
  • Confident saying “no” when appropriate to maximize the value of product and overall vision.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity to find clarity.
  • Understanding of project management processes including requirements development, scope definition, budget management and reporting, resource management, risk identification/management and client engagement.
  • Able to remain calm and in control under pressure and to calm others under stress.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience.

What we offer:

  • Healthy work/life balance
  • A creative environment to do the best work of your career
  • An amazing team of developers, designers, marketers, and project managers.
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Paid vacation and sick time off
