Progressive Die Journeyman Toolmaker

This position will be responsible for running and maintaining Trans-Matic's Progressive Dies. This will include all aspects of running these presses and dies, including designing or building new Progressive Dies or major redesigns on existing dies. There may also be an opportunity to work on transfer dies.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Maintain existing Progressive Dies including sharpen tools, replace tooling components in the dies, order appropriate spare tooling, maintain established tooling standards, maintain product quality, troubleshoot dies, update tooling prints and required process paperwork
• Setup dies for production runs, setup to standards, maintain setup documentation by job
• Operate production presses as needed, including change coils, ensure product quality as outlined in control plans, part handling, scrap removal, housekeeping around presses, know and understand quality systems
• Maintain organization of dies, material and general press area.
• Lead & document continuous improvement activities on tools in area of responsibility.
• Lead the development of new tooling Progressive Dies as needed.
• Work closely with sales, product launch, quality engineer and customers to resolve print or part issues during tool development.
• Work with outside tool sources to ensure robust tool development as needed.
• Fabricate new tooling Progressive Dies as needed.
• Other production related duties as requested.

Required Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent experience
• Journeyman’s card in Tool & Die
• Background in a metalforming industry
• Ability to read blueprints
• Mechanical, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Regarded as creative, a self-starter and adaptable to changes
• Knowledge and experience using statistical problem solving methods
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
