Job description

Under the general direction of an Attorney Supervisor of the Tax Administration and Procedure Bureau, the incumbent represents the Department in appeal and protest matters in civil tax disputes related to administrative and procedural issues. The incumbent will review and develop appeal cases to which they are assigned and prepare appellate level briefs in these cases. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as a reviewer for paraprofessional staff that are assisting with the lowest complexity assignments within the appeals workload. The incumbent will also serve as a member of teams preparing oral presentations for hearings before the Office of Tax Appeals and will provide consultation to and advise other Legal Division staff, and serve on departmental and Legal Division teams.

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
