Position Summary
Anticipated Hiring Hourly Range: $19.00 - $22.50
The Bridge to Ministry Program Specialist reports to the Director of the Bridge to Ministry Program and is responsible for student recruitment and administrative tasks related to program planning, management, coordination, and evaluation.

Duties:
  • Provide office management for Bridge to Ministry office.
  • Provide administrative support to the Bridge to Ministry Program Director.
  • Perform high-level administrative functions.
  • Take minutes and maintain records of meeting, as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to other Bridge partners, as needed.
  • Interface/build relationships with university staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Work closely with program director, recruiter(s), dean's office, seminary program director, and seminary assistants.
  • Act as liaison and support communication with the Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Assist with preparation of bi-annual grant reports to the Kern Family Foundation.
  • Aid in the preparation of other reports and publications.
  • Coordinate details for Bridge to Ministry Faith, Work & Economics events with community and students.
  • Assist with and sometimes organize campus recruitment events including, but not limited to, campus tours, new student orientation, various graduation events, undergrad classroom presentations, college fairs, and other local community events.
  • Promote and recruit for the Bridge to Ministry Program.
  • Contact prospective students and maintain regular contact with prospective students in the application process over a broad medium of communication channels including, but not limited to, telephone, mail, email, social media, and in person.
  • Provide admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and other constituents over a broad medium of communication channels including, but not limited to, telephone, mail, email, social media, and in person.
  • Answer questions about the university and refer students to the proper person or department when necessary (i.e., faculty, Student Financial Services, Student Life, etc.)
  • Assist students in preparing for college.
  • Highlight the benefits of specific programs and courses to attract students and encourage diversity on campus.
  • Stay current with school admissions processes and requirements, school programs, majors, and courses, and development in education and financial aid.
  • Conduct interviews, review application materials, and assist in the admissions decision-making process.
  • Develop and maintain an active alumni network to plan events, help students find opportunities in their fields, and obtain funding.
  • Maintain accurate and current knowledge of educational legislation, trends, developments, and resources.
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others
  • Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion.
  • Knowledge of administrative and data management procedures and practices.
  • Judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior ability to coordinate and manage complex tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • Self-started, self-disciplined, goal-oriented, and precise.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and clean driving record. (Must be approved by FPU's insurance company to drive university or rental vehicles as well as minimum required insurance on personal vehicle that is used for business.)

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Familiarity with ministry educational programs.
  • Previous work with church congregations.
  • Bi-lingual, preferably with the ability to write and speak in Spanish and English.

University Information
Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands:
  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
