We are seeking a Clinical Informatics Director for our Real World Data (RWD) Informatics Team. Reporting to the VP Oncology Informatics, this dual SME & technical position involves managing a few direct reports and contributing to Labcorp's efforts to expand the oncology Real World Data (RWD) asset for secondary use. The role encompasses providing advanced EHR-driven clinical data education, leading technical and application development, and fostering strategic partnerships with data vendors and health care organizations.
Job Duties:
Clinical Informatics Director for Real World Data (RWD) Applications:
Contribute to the execution of Labcorp Oncology's internal and external efforts to expand the oncology RWD asset for secondary use.
Provide advanced EHR-driven clinical data education as a subject matter expert, enhancing Labcorp Oncology data products through presentations and cross-functional internal meetings.
Contribute to the refinement and expansion of a sophisticated phenotype ontology and data model.
Lead technical and application development related to self-service access and analysis of phenotype data, as well as the development of a phenotype ingestion pipeline.
Curate clinical datasets in conjunction with precision oncology genomic data to enable downstream data mining and analysis in both phenotype first and genotype first queries.
Strategic Partnerships with Data Vendors and Health Care Organizations:
Provide clinical and technical expertise to oncology-focused RWD partnerships with data vendors, health system collaborators, and informatics teams.
Manage relationships and projects involving diverse partners.
Represent Labcorp RWD Informatics at senior levels both internally and externally, attending and presenting at relevant events.
Participate in training opportunities to advance knowledge of RWD secondary use in precision oncology.
Serve as a liaison between Labcorp RWD informatics team and strategic partners to drive real-world data products and applications.
Experience:
Minimum Required: 10 years of experience in the job discipline.
Previous experience with the management of precision oncology real-world data use and applications.
Hands-on experience working with clinical databases, EHR data structures, and disparate real world data sources
Deep knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED, RxNorm) and biomedical ontologies.
Familiarity with common data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
Ability to effectively manage and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
Regional Overnight Travel:
10%, primarily to conferences and meetings where interaction with data partners in-person is required.
Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses:
Recommended: Medical degree (physician) and formal training in biomedical informatics.
Professional degree/designations/certifications/licenses: MD
