About the Department:The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. The division serves all students at NC State through three integrated components: academic affairs, student affairs, and University College.

Resiliency and Community Supportis a newly formed team that supports the student experience by aligning several programs and functions that support student well-being, sense of belonging, and promotes a supportive, safe campus environment. These professional staff facilitate NC State’s Pack Essentials program that supports students in meeting basic needs. Additionally, the team is charged with supporting signature university events such as Packapalooza and critical functions in support of student success such as follow-up on individual student inquiries, absence verification, and written student complaints. Finally, this team supports the campus resilience operations in response to emergency and crisis situations and provides critical postvention leadership.
The Program Director, Community Support will be responsible for the following:
Off Campus Student Life Support and Advocacy
- Lead institutional efforts for understanding issues related to the off campus student experience.
- Advocate for programs and interventions to increase the belonging and well-being of the off campus student population.
- Collect relevant data related to off campus student concerns to address matters related to the student experience.
- Ensure NC State PRRs and administrative procedures support off campus student needs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local apartment complexes and off campus housing contacts.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and businesses to address needs of off campus students.
Student Support and Belonging
- Independently identify resource needs and coordinate the deployment of resources in response to crisis situations, student deaths, and emergency incidents.
- Participate in the administration of case management in partnerships with campus units including Prevention Services.
- Maintain strong working relationships with campus partners.
- Interpret university regulation to oversee the management of the absence verification process and independently resolve non-routine requests.
- Serve as a liaison with campus partners in regard to event planning: risk management considerations, university policies application, and resolution of non-routine requests related to events.
- Oversee the management of the Wolfpack Pickup golf cart service.
Administration
- Supervision of the Community Support staff including a Program Associate, Graduate Assistant, student employees, and volunteers.
- Serve on committees, task forces, and work teams as appropriate.

- Requires post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.
- Effective leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, train, and mentor.
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain campus and external partnerships.
- Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in higher education is preferred.
