Job description

The primary purpose of the Program Coordinator is to perform advanced level activities in support of tobacco-related research and education programs. Coordinates the operation of 1 or more training and education grants and assists with 1 or more community-based tobacco health equity programs. The Program Coordinator impacts program operations at the department level through program development and future program planning and innovation. Assists with managing and coordinating grant activities including: over-seeing daily management of grant activities, recruitment of trainees, coordinating schedules of trainees, obtaining guest speakers, etc. as well as assisting other projects as needed in activities including day-to-day progress tracking, report writing, data collection, training, and staff supervision.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Program/Study Management Assist with all things entailed in the day-to-day coordination of 1 or more training and education programs in cancer prevention, addictions, and tobacco health equity. Additionally assists with community-based program implementation, tracking, and reporting to funder. The Program Coordinator will coordinate activities and project-specific events, assist with development of program timelines and monitor progress towards meeting program goals and deliverables, accurately enter and maintain evidence of achievement of program milestones, generate, format, and distribute reports and spreadsheets, arrange meetings and record minutes.
Program Development/Delivery Coordinate the development and implementation of a training program curriculum and its evaluation. Recruit trainees into programs and assist with their programming activities. Coordinate and maintain records, including those related to financial matters. Prepare presentations, reports and materials. Facilitate the procurement and maintenance of supplies internally and for external program partners, resources and assets through collaboration with program personnel and trainees.
Builds and Maintains Relationships Cultivates and maintains working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Manage communications between MD Anderson and external community partners. Arranges special events with community partners and assists with recruitment and marketing. Uses independent judgment to identify and resolve workflow issues and matters of significance such as complaints, recruitment issues, and scheduling difficulties.

Other Duties Other duties as assigned including but not limited to collaborating with researchers/investigators in preparation of oral presentations for formal and/or informal meetings, providing periodic reports to the investigative team and other entities interested in program outcomes, updates regarding continuous revisions to documents, bibliographic libraries, website updates, and grant-related documentation.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in Public Health.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years project/program coordination experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
