Role Definition
Successful execution of custom switchgear projects and/or accounts from Order Entry through Project Closeout.  This position works with cross-functional multi-project team resources to ensure expectations are delivered according to defined scope, timeline, documentation, and cost parameters.
Responsibilities
• Management for all of the financial, commercial, contractual, and technical aspects of the Custom Switchgear projects.

• Oversight for the Submittal design, procurement, assembly, test, shipment, and commissioning of Switchgear projects.

• Responsible in managing commercial aspects and support technical direction to various other project teams, including engineering, purchasing, production and field service.

• Deals with multiple disciplines such as contractors, consultants, engineering, sales, purchasing, and commissioning agents in regards to power generation and or electrical design products.

• Directs internal and client teams involved in multiple activities.

Degree Requirements

The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience. 
Skill Descriptors
KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience in dealing with multiple disciplines such as contractors, consultants, engineering, sales, purchasing, and commissioning agents.

• Demonstrated experience managing multiple simultaneous projects involving cross-functional technical teams within budgetary and schedule constraints.

• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical/power project and business management principles, methods and techniques.

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and situations to achieve superior proactive project order management and customer service.

• Demonstrated skills and experience in mediation and negotiation.

• Strong verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills.

•  Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office 365.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:

• Develops solutions to commercial problems and provides support in solving technical problems.

• Applies advanced knowledge and experience rather than fixed "textbook" methods.

• Must be able to achieve coordination of projects by working with design, contract, commercial and production planning specialists.

• Ability to strategically and tactically organize and structure project execution activities.

WORK DIRECTION AND LATITUDE:

• Requires very little supervision.

• Exercises considerable latitude in determination of commercial objectives.

• Directs the entire project from Order Entry to commissioning of advance custom switchgear solutions.

• Individual must be innovative and inventive to solve commercial or complex product problems. Ideas and recommendations to management relative to new applications and approaches are usually accepted when making policy decisions.

FOCUS:

• Ensure technical and commercial strategy is well understood throughout the manufacturing and engineering project team.

• Coordinates project schedule with both the customer and production control.

• Interface with the customer on technical and commercial matters.

• Prepares cost estimates at booking, shipment and at start up completion.

• Monitors progress to schedule in engineering, provisioning, and production operations.

• Monitors Customer Drawings and approves Operation/Maintenance Manuals.

• Regularly inspect progress of custom switchgear product on shop floor to assure compliance to specification, resolving problems quickly, and project milestones are being met.

• Represent customers interest with respect to quality problem resolution.

• Assure project revenue recognition and profitability are timely and are in concert with Company financial plan.

LIAISON:

• Interfaces with internal management of the company as well as customers.

• Internal contacts and peers may be department and business managers, project managers, production managers, product support team, and engineering.

• External contacts are project managers and management of Caterpillar Dealers, major clients, and sub-suppliers.
