The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC. Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in 2024.
About the role:
The Museum of Tolerance seeks a Program Coordinator, Volunteers Services to manage and coordinate a robust Volunteer Department with hundreds of Volunteers, Interns and High School Students who volunteer in various capacities in departments throughout the SWC/ MOT. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations and ensures effective communication between staff and volunteers. This individual must be a passionate educator, committed to the values and mission of the SWC/MOT, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills, value attention to detail, a proactive attitude, as well as being enthusiastic and personable.

You are passionate about creating enriching and educational experiences for diverse groups of audiences, volunteers, and visitors.
This position will report to the Associate Director of Education and is based in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and placing volunteers and interns to support staff and programs.
- Provide supervisory guidance for all volunteers and interns which may include scheduling, providing office hours to field questions, arranging meetings, prioritizing needs of cross cutting stakeholders, and problem solving to promote and inspire a visitor-centered and volunteer-friendly culture.
- Collaborate with department leadership and organization faculty to create and conduct volunteer training and ongoing professional development opportunities including preparing materials, reserving rooms, booking speakers and trainers, etc.
- Align program with all organizational policies and procedures and collate necessary documents for compliance and record keeping requirements.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit new volunteers.
- Support administrative responsibilities including: data base management, tracking volunteer hours, generating reports on participation, and coordinating ongoing communication including regular newsletters.
- Plan and coordinate regular volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
- Provide support for MOT programs, new program development, and other customized programs for audiences of all ages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
- Have 2-3 years of experience managing volunteers or working in a human resource management role
- Exemplary interest in informal learning, education, and/or museum education
- Experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- Willingness to work in a team environment
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated; flexible
40 hours/week; Monday – Friday, (occasional Sundays and evenings)
