Program Coordinator - VITA- Community Development Department
CSET is looking for a qualified individual that under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises activities of a specific, assigned program. Performs related responsibilities as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides direction to and supervises regular, temporary and volunteer staff, including selecting, monitoring, training, scheduling and determining work loads; assists in audits, ensuring processes are adhered to; serves as lead to temporary program staff.
- Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the assigned centers.
- Participates in the preparation of an assigned center or specialized program budget.
- Plans, evaluates and coordinates program, classes, ensures day to day activities and special events, including scheduling facilities, ensuring facilities are set up, scheduling visits and scheduling training.
- Monitors the day-to-day operations of programs and events, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
- Formulates and organizes program plans and schedules for seasonal and year-round activities such as outreach, special program events, and day and evening events.
- Acts as liaison and representative with a specific funding source, community groups, law enforcement agencies, schools and community councils.
- Creates program flyers, brochures, and newsletters, including determining content, layout, materials and distribution methods; prepares activity and operating reports.
- Enforces safety and operating procedures and communicates maintenance needs including compliance with health and safety codes and building codes.
- Attends to facility users; prints weekly event schedule and ensures tat all setups are done, coordinates maintenance and supplies.
- Develops lesson plans, new programs, or other material.
- Develops a variety of teaching strategies to effectively teach students/volunteers within the program.
- Recommends changes in program objectives, policies and procedures to assure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Recruits youth and other community residents to participate in activities through outreaches, programs at local High School, parent meetings, and community events.
- Refines the curriculum and policies for CSET's VITA program and facilitates outreach activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of training in collaboration with the IRS and CalEITC partner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer the VITA program in the South County communities;
- Provides support to the VITA Program, which operates out of 5 sites in Tulare County;
- Represents CSET at community meetings, including but not limited to the Earlimart, Pixley , Porterville area;
- Plans and assists with the implementation of VITA and CalEITC community outreach projects in South County, including but not limited to High Schools and Senior Centers;
- Creates monthly community outreach for Earlimart, Porterville and Pixley;
- Compiles and maintains program tracking and reports, which demonstrate outcomes of the program.
SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to effectively teach concepts to a variety of age groups and cultural populations.
- Knowledge of cultural and social needs of the community.
- Skill in short-range organizational planning.
- Ability to review programs effectively and make recommendations as needed.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Two years full-time or its equivalent of recreation experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
