Cary's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources team is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Program Assistant II to support Sports Programs. This position will assist Sports staff in sports league and event implementation, project development, and administrative duties, playing a critical role in providing high-quality sports leagues and programs for the community.
Work will require public contact, depending upon the specific assignment. May require driving.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Work schedule will vary depending upon assignment and may include evenings and weekends. Performs work planning and implementing youth and adult sports leagues, such as volunteer recruitment, monitoring registration, practice and game scheduling and rescheduling, conducting tryouts, and conducting league drafts;Performs work in support of sports league management, such as uniform ordering and distribution, equipment ordering and distribution, award ordering and distribution, volunteer training and certification, and facility reservation entry;
Performs marketing tasks, such as creating brochures, posters, flyers, social media posts, etc.;
Maintains databases and performs data entry and processing;
Performs general office duties;
Engages in significant telephone contact with the public;
Assists with various aspects of Sports programs and special events;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. Prefers some coursework or equivalent experience in recreation/sport management.
Experience planning and implementing sports leagues or programs is preferred.
Conditions of Employment
Requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.Employment Type: Temporary, Part-Time
