You'll join a team of talented and passionate people who are motivated to make our community as strong and resilient as possible.
HOURS: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electric and Fuel Program Assistant is responsible for the daily operation of the Electric Assistance Program processes at the Agency and works in conjunction with the utility companies. Provides support to intake and certification staff of the Electric and Fuel Assistance Program.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Answers FAP/EAP office phone calls, resolves questions and/or transfers calls to appropriate staff person for resolution. Follows up when necessary.
  • Processes and certifies incoming FAP/EAP applications as needed.
  • Prints and mails EAP 45-day letters for program participants from all area centers.
  • Reviews, processes, verifies and files daily EAP transmissions.
  • Reviews and investigates EAP withdrawn applications. Notifies utilities of cases requiring research.
  • Makes 15 day follow up phone calls for program participants from all area centers.
  • Researches all applications on the pending removal list. Processes the removals or follows up if needed.
  • Sends removal notification to all utilities on a weekly basis and maintains a master file copy for the Community Service Director.
  • Assists other FAP/EAP staff with daily calls to the Fuel and Electric Assistance Program administrative office.
  • Assists other FAP/EAP staff with maintenance and organization of Electric Assistance and/or Fuel Assistance files.
  • Processes client move reports from utilities.
  • Provides both FAP/EAP training for new staff.
  • Assists other FAP/EAP staff with correspondence mailings if needed.

  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
  • One year of prior office or accounting experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of varying economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to use Windows operating system and Microsoft Office customized program software applications.
  • Ability to accept direction and work independently.
  • General office and organizational skills (phone, filing, information processing).
  • Ability to analyze data, formulate conclusions and/or questions and process information through established procedures accordingly.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy office environment.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalency credential. Associate's Degree in Administration, Clerical or Accounting field preferred.

License/Certification:
  • Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.
