Who is “The Learning Specialist”?:
The Learning Specialist is a group of interventionists who make children with neurodiversity confident and independent in life and in school. We thrive on helping children become thinkers and learners. The Learning Specialists create academic plans for children with a wide-range of learning styles and specialize in the needs of neurodivergent learners. Our specialists use educational therapy programs to ensure students close their academic gaps, understand how their brains work, and become lifelong, independent learners. Job Overview:
The Learning Specialist is seeking creative and inclusive Learning Specialists who can help a wide-range of children with neurodiversity. This individual will be responsible for creating academic plans specific to the child’s needs to ensure students can close their academic gaps, understand how their brains work, and become lifelong, independent learners. The Learning Specialist will collaborate with stakeholders to find the best modality of intervention to help the child in need.
Expected Workload:
- Each student may require 1-3 sessions per week. Prep work varies
- Parent consultations to share data updates as well as parent coaching every 6-8 weeks
- You have complete autonomy over your schedule, however, it is heavily suggested that you create a consistent schedule with the parents/guardians in order to build consistency and rapport with the student
Working at The Learning Specialist:
- This is an in-person position either at the student’s home or at our office in mid-city
- This job is a 1099 contract position with part time hours
- The Learning Specialist will be able to work ASAP
- This job will require a reliable means of transportation to the child’s home and/or our office
- This job will require a background check.
- This job will require a specialist who will travel to theeast side and/or the valley.
- The Learning Specialist will be paid a fee by service, $100 per session
- The Learning Specialist will practice active communication with students, parents, and The Learning Specialist staff
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Master’s Degree in Special Education OR:
- Math specialists must have training in and/or are certified in science-based programs such as Lindamood Bell’s On Cloud 9, Making Math Real, Touch Math, etc.
- Prior experience with a range of mild/moderate disabilities, including but not limited to ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, and/or executive dysfunction. A working knowledge of dyscalculia is preferred.
- Prior or current experience in a special education setting
