Title: Professional Engineer
Location: Hillside Maintenance Complex (HMC), 93-59 183rd Street, Hollis, New York
Duration: 16 Months
Role & Responsibilities:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, construction, and analysis of new systems and modification of existing water-based fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, standpipes, private fire service mains, fire pumps, and backflow prevention systems.
• Demonstrate experience utilizing professional judgment in the application of science and engineering to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the LIRR from the impacts of fire.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint), Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, equivalent design, and scheduling software experience with other systems is acceptable.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills related to required work.
• Demonstrated expert level knowledge of the New York State Fire and Building Codes, applicable American Water Works Association (“AWWA”) and National Fire Protection Association standards (13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 24, 25), occupancy and hazard classifications, fire test methods, and the interpretation of fire test data.
• Expertise in fire protection analysis, fire protection management, and fire protection systems.
• Demonstrated experience with Passive Building Systems: Advanced knowledge of the principles of building construction as they relate to fire protection, such as construction types, construction materials, interior finish, structural fire resistance, compartmentalization.

Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or an equivalent discipline.
License Requirement:
Licensed and registered as a New York State Professional Engineer.
Valid Driver's License
