Summary:


The Production/Quality Assurance Supervisor oversees a wide range of production activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This role is responsible for supervising molding lines, packaging, sanitation, and warehouse operations, among other duties. The Supervisor will also manage staffing, training, and decision-making related to production and quality issues.


Essential Functions/Duties:



  • Supervise and direct daily production labor to achieve standard efficiencies with minimal labor cost.


  • Ensure accuracy in pre- and post-shift paperwork reporting.


  • Make decisions on production problems and shortages, including raw materials and packaging.


  • Maintain optimal staffing levels to meet production requirements.


  • Supervise production quality and address quality issues promptly.


  • Plan and execute molding line operations, including changeovers and sanitation.


  • Provide necessary training to support key positions.


  • Maintain employee records, including payroll and attendance.


  • Conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions.


  • Fulfill production sample requests for customers.


  • Develop, train, monitor, and report on net weight control and environmental swabbing.


  • Coordinate and oversee product and packaging quality sampling.


  • Assist in sensory testing, shelf-life evaluation, and customer complaint resolution.


  • Monitor and verify documentation related to food safety, sanitation, and quality programs.


  • Handle conflicts and maintain a teamwork approach across departments.


  • Plan changeovers and improve production efficiencies.


  • Supervise pest control assignments and plant remelt usage.


  • Ability to cover all Production Supervisors on all three shifts.


  • Directly Supervises (Titles):


  • Lead People, Maintenance, Line Operators, Chocolate Unloader, Sanitation Worker, Packers, Materials Handler
Requirements:

Job Qualification Requirements:


Knowledge/Skills:


  • Understanding of chocolate molding processes and chocolate flavored product manufacturing.


  • Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, with short notice.


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Excellent organizational skills and decision-making ability.


  • Proficiency in AS/400 system, Microsoft software (Excel, Word), and Lotus Notes email.


  • Familiarity with runbooks and Point of Light system.


  • Willingness to undergo continuing education and training as required.


Experience:


  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience in food processing or food technology, with a strong background in chocolate molding and packaging. Experience in creating schedules and managing line operations is essential.


Machines, Tools & Equipment, Software:


Personal computer, printer, AS400 system, Microsoft software (Excel, Word), Internet Explorer.


Telephone, fax machine, copiers.


Hand jack/tow motor license preferred.


Licenses/Certifications:


Strong understanding of chocolate molding and packaging.


Additional courses in Supervision/Leadership are preferred.


Hand jack/tow motor license beneficial.


Physical Activities/Requirements/Conditions:


Physical activities in the manufacturing area involve reaching, grasping, lifting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, pushing, and carrying. Daily exposures to noise, odors, and mechanical moving parts may occur. Hearing protection may be required. The ability to lift 25 to 40 pounds is necessary.


Physical activities in an office setting are generally sedentary but may require frequent talking, hearing, typing, visual activity, walking, and climbing.
