- Direct rotating shift employees performing complex operations to ensure conformance to schedules, close tolerances, and quality requirements
- Responsible for staffing and scheduling of employees
- Conduct daily team meetings prior to shift change, interface with out-going shift supervisor, hand out daily assignments and discuss new or changed production schedule
- Follow all Quality and Safety Guidelines to produce material with consistent quality in a safe manner
- Be familiar with current and emerging technology as it applies to department and printing
- Knowledge of ink systems and their properties, hazardous waste handling and solvents
- Monitor the plate mounting schedule to ensure we are on target
- Oversee flexo and roto pre-press operations
- Verify work orders against production schedule and check for erroneous information
- Respond to customer rejects, complaints and/or issues by implementing procedures and feedback
- Relieve employees on machines when necessary
- Engage with employees and contractors on a regular basis
- Conduct follow up audits to ensure action items have been closed out
- Perform daily reviews of offline process control indicators (e.g. Quality Window) and address any out of control conditions that may not have been communicated previously
- In the case of non-conforming products or processes, utilize existing controlled information to troubleshoot the problem, including but not limited to: operating centerlines, work instructions, on-line process control data, offline process control data, FMEA
- Ensure that all employees receive the right trainings according to the defined skill level in the skill matrix following competence management strategy
- Make use of the safety performance data provided and communicate good performance and concerns regularly. Consider trends when planning the critical task audits
- Ensure no person is permitted to operate equipment or conduct tasks for which they have not been trained
- Conduct the on the job safety trainings and check whether the knowledge was understood
- Be on the shop floor and at areas where high-risk tasks are being conducted
- Stop work that is being conducted in an unsafe manner posing risk to persons
- Identify/address issues of non-compliance
Your Profile
- High school education or equivalent
- Manufacturing experience, extensive printing experience preferred
- Mechanical skills, good hand eye coordination
- Leadership and supervisory experience preferred
- Attention to detail, safety, and quality
- Ability to work independently and make decisions
