GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the efficient operation of production procedures in fresh processing and puree. This individual is a WORKING SUPERVISOR responsible for supervision, training, and assignment of production personnel to specific jobs and to motivate and instruct them in proper job performance. Must be able to perform job duties with little or no supervision and is to set an example for the crew.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide leadership and direction for processing operations during the shift to ensure efficient and effective line operation and productivity that meets buyer’s expectations and requirements.
2. Coordinate and assist SHIFT SUPERVISOR and department team members in change overs and assist with running processing equipment as needed.
3. Report all required maintenance that cannot be performed during the shift to the Maintenance Supervisor.
4. Must be physically able to perform all duties and jobs in the work area, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to walk, go up and down stairs, use catwalks and ladders on a continual basis throughout the shift.
5. Reports activity of shift operation to the Plant Manager to include all issues that are preventing line from making production requirements.
6. Must exhibit integrity, fairness, skills and behaviors that allow and promote effective and positive intrapersonal relationship skill in interacting and getting along with others.
7. Have knowledge, ability and problem-solving skills to propose new and effective procedures and processes and work independently.
8. Works with shift supervisors to ensure that personnel working on the line have been instructed how to properly perform their position duties safely.
9. Works with shift supervisor to make sure routine inspections of line are completed and that any mechanical discrepancies are reported to Maintenance Supervisor.
10. Coordinates with Sanitation, QA and Shift Supervisor to ensure product change overs and wash downs are completed with a minimum of downtime.
11. Assist processing mechanics with repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance of equipment.
12. Practice safety awareness, including responsibility for self and others. Report any and all health/safety hazards to Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager.
13. Obey food safety guidelines, good manufacturing practices (GMP’s), sanitation practices, plant rules and procedures.
14. Work cooperatively with shift supervisors, lab personnel and processing team members.
15. Must be willing to participate in continuing education opportunities to improve abilities as assigned and directed by management.
16. Practice good housekeeping at all times.
17. Must be lift truck certified.
18. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer programs.
19. Perform other duties as directed.
POSITION PRE-REQUISITES:
1. Must have the ability to read, understand and effectively communicate clearly in English. Must have reading and comprehension skills that are verifiable.
2. Effective team player and possess excellent work ethic.
3. Ability to follow and interpret written and oral instruction.
4. Ability to accurately compute simple math.
5. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot effectively.
6. Must provide own tools.
7. Ability to drive a forklift.
8. Ability to work any shift, extended hours and weekends.
9. Must possess a high school diploma or be able to obtain a G.E.D as a minimum requirement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Strength- Lift 70lbs Maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 55 lbs.
2. Stand/Walk/Sit- Stand, walk and or sit a maximum of 3 hours prior to each break period.
3. Climb/Balance- Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding and the like using feet and legs and or hand and arms. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
4. Stoop- Bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
5. Kneel- Bend the legs at the knees to come to rest on the knee or knees.
6. Crouch- Bend the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine.
7. Crawl- Move about on the hands and knees or hands and feet.
8. Reach- Extend both hands and arms in any direction.
9. Handle- Seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with the hand or hands.
10. See- Obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color or other characteristics of objects.
11. Twist/Turn- Able to turn/twist trunk of body from side to side.
12. Talk- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
