Job title: Opti-Frame Production Supervisor

Pay: Starting at $24 to $28 an hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. with extra hours and weekends as needed.

Location: Salem, Oregon

The Opti-Frame Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Opti-Frame Manager in managing the overall operational performance of Opti-Frame. This individual plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing production activities through its best practices and procedures.

This position interacts regularly with the saw location Yard Managers, Opti-Frame location team members, and the Opti-Frame Scheduling Coordinators.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a supervisor in manufacturing preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience in precut component manufacturing
  • Driver's License Class C and acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
  • Must be able to type 30+ WPM
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of lumber and manufacturing principles, practices, and protocols
  • Knowledge of home and commercial construction principles, practices, and protocols
  • Ability to maintain adequate liability insurance as required by company. Minimum $300,000 liability coverage
  • Ability to travel, which may include flying regionally. Some overnight stays should be expected

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with Yard Managers to evaluate performance of production staff and to ensure quality standards are met
  • Provide guidance and support to the saw locations to help them achieve production goals and help align production activities with overall organizational goals
  • Help monitor and adjust production schedules based on demand and resource availability
  • Help ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications and address and resolve issues related to product quality
  • Help location management identify, within the saw production environment, that practices are consistent and in compliance with Parr's safety policies
  • Help location management with training of production staff on processes and safety procedures
  • Help develop maintenance schedules and the adherence to them.
  • Develop a part back-up stock plan to mitigate downtime exposure. Audit processes as needed
  • Assist Yard Managers and the Opti-Frame Manager in allocating resources efficiently, including manpower, equipment, and materials
  • Optimize production processes to maximize output while minimizing costs
  • Help track and analyze production performance metrics and identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
  • Support location management with training to production staff on processes and safety procedures
  • Develop and implement programs for continuous skill improvement as well as the development of Best Practices
  • Assist the locations in resolving any production-related issues in a timely manner and help analyze root causes of production problems and implement preventive measures
  • Collaborate, where needed, with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges
  • Help communicate production goals and objectives to the team and foster open communication channels within the production department
  • Works with Yard Managers and Regional Operations Managers to ensure optimal staffing production levels are in place
  • Assist in identifying personnel needs of yards regarding current and future production staff
  • Works to improve his or her knowledge and experience with Opti-Frame equipment, programs, and subsequent reporting tools
  • With the direction of the Opti-Frame Managers, update product knowledge of Opti-Frame employees and assists yard management in training employees where needed
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers exercising Parr's FACE values at all times
  • Track and report saw locations output results, (board footage per saw, board footage per man hour, etc.)
  • The Branch manager works in an office with a computer, on the retail floor, and walks the outdoor section of the location.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
  • Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
  • Both local and overnight travel may be required
