Production Supervisor- Direct Hire Opportunity!
Volt Workforce Solutions has a Direct Hire position available in Portland, OR for an experienced Production Supervisor. Our client was established in 1987 and offers an extensive variety of packaging solutions for their clients around the world. The perfect candidate will have over 3+ years of experience supervising multiple packaging lines in a warehouse environment.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a requirement.
Salary: 65K to 70K
As Production Supervisor, you will:
Production – 50%:
- Ensures that the department’s production daily schedules are met, or risks are escalated to deliver a high level of schedule fulfillment and support transparency to customers.
- Coordinates and leads the conversion of raw materials into finished goods.
- Ensures product is flowing with FIFO.
- Improves production performance by leading cost reduction and yield improvement projects/processes.
- Partners with the maintenance team to coordinate the scheduling and execution of preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Lead pre-shift huddles to provide clear direction for the shift.
- Provides Forklift operators daily line support expectations.
- Updates and ensures all information is accurate in the production data system.
- Coaches line workers and provides feedback to foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Works with contract worker supervisors to develop team members and support coaching/accountability discussions within the contract team.
- Works with the line lead on the training of newly assigned workers.
- Takes the lead in living our Core Values and ensures team members are in alignment.
- Encourages a positive team-oriented atmosphere through leading by example.
- Leads the line process, achieving a high level of “first time” quality.
- Coordinates Root Cause Analysis process for reducing product hold.
- Conducts periodic line audits to ensure data accuracy.
- Conducts GMP audits to ensure compliance.
- Participates in Department and Company Safety Program.
- Provides insight to strategies and programs to ensure safety incidents are reduced/eliminated.
- Understands the safety requirements that pertain to the job.
- Follow the hazardous materials safety procedures when choosing/mixing cleaning.

- Ensures that all personnel working/passing around their work area do so in a safe manner consistent with the safety directives of the company and food safety.
- Develops and maintains an ongoing knowledge of the packaging business and technologies.
- Analyzes and completes annual self-improvement activities.
- Relives other team members as needed for breaks, absences, etc.
- May be assigned other duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads a team of approximately 60 associates (temp and full-time employees).
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience leading plant floor teams. Packaging experience preferred. Excellent computer skills and experience working with an operating system.
