Baxter Manufacturing, a division of ITW-Food Equipment Group, has a brand new opening for a Production Supervisor working in its Orting, Washington facility.

Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor role performs the single function of supervising the production activities in a business unit. They ensure adherence to the production schedule; the production process flows without problems. They are responsible for assigning and coordinating the work in a manufacturing department, supervising hourly employees, production summaries, overtime, and downtime reports.
Salary: 70k - 75k Exempt
Job Description
- Supervise daily production activities of a specific group of assembly workers.
- Review work performance, absenteeism, and scrap and rework records, of all supervised personnel and take corrective actions as needed.
- Interpret, clarify, and enforce rules, regulations, and policies as well as adherence to the union contract.
- Maintain morale, ensure discipline is equitably applied and promote employee relations.
- Manage housekeeping programs (5S) to ensure a safe and clean work environment consistent with company direction and policy.
- Assure proper handling of hazardous wastes, and be sure to comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review present equipment, production procedures, and make recommendations that may contribute to operational cost reductions.
- Monitor operations and processes to ensure each employee is using proper methods and performing at an acceptable level.
- Facilitate relevant training for all employees including regular follow-up to ensure proficiency of the department’s tasks, equipment, tools, and safety.
- Confer with other departments on matters that affect the operation of the area.
- Order supplies and be sure employees have proper tooling, equipment, materials, and paperwork to perform the job (May be required).
- Compile, maintain and issue records of reports as required.
- Assists with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
- May be required to open the facility by 430am every workday.
- Drive improvements to PLS, MRD, In-lining, and the KanBan systems in manufacturing area
- Work with production team to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

- Strong people skills and interactions with the ability to handle various personalities

- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
- Proven leadership skills in a manufacturing environment with the ability to coach and inspire employees
- Ability to effectively work with other departments as it pertains to manufacturing
- Basic knowledge of budgeting, and cost control principles
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft office (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of basic assembly operations
- Understand of welding and sheet metal fabrication (plus but not required)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Must be proficient in time management and prioritization of key activities
- A working knowledge of various Lean Manufacturing a plus
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in business related field and/or 2 to 4 years of relevant experience. Reports to the Operations Manager.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Travel less than 5% of the time
- Ability Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Production Environment non controlled climate
