We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Production Manager in Frankfort, IN .
The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As a Production Manager at Caterpillar, you will supervise and provide leadership to Warehouse Associates and Team Leads assigned to a designated area.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Determines priorities of daily workload for value stream
Determines overtime needs, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary
Manages employee hours through appropriate time keeping system
Ensures production meets safety, quality, velocity, and cost standards
Ensures necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value added activities
Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
Implements various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc
Monitors and improves safety in the warehouse; eliminating any unsafe operations and ensuring a safe and clean warehouse environment
Evaluates, assesses, and identifies training needs of the workforce
Ensures training and effective utilization of work force
Must be able to work overtime as required
Performs the following CPS-related duties:
Resource allocation to meet requirements
Trains and models the CPS Guiding Principles
Deploys process improvement dialogues
Deploys Root Cause Corrective Action on issues that arise and drive continuous improvement
Reports section status and monitors and audits related metrics
Leads efforts to develop and deploy standard work for each work area
Basic Qualifications:
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
• Conducts daily maintenance and keeps tracking logs on safety equipment.
• Responds to first aid and accident situations following standard procedures.
• Inspects manufacturing working environment to find safety violations within a specific area.
• Utilizes personal protective equipment required or recommended for manufacturing staff.
• Determines appropriate action to take when unsafe conditions are encountered.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
• Explains the purpose and limitations of quality management.
• Accesses organizational resources that enable quality management.
• Defines quality management concepts.
• Cites examples of organizational quality management initiatives.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.
• Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.
• Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.
• Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.
• Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.
Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
• Describes manufacturing site's major standards and policies.
• Explains the basic functions and operations within a manufacturing plant.
• Lists common tasks and activities performed by operations functions and sub-functions.
• Locates information regarding fundamental practices and policies.
Top Candidates will also have:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, leadership, manufacturing, supply chain or other related field
Familiarity with CPS (Caterpillar Production System) PQVC (People, Quality, Velocity, Cost) metrics
Additional Information:
This position will be working 1st shift hours (6:30am - 2:30pm) at our Frankfort, IN facility
This position does not offer relocation
This position requires 10% or less travel
