Position:Security Specialist, GS-0080-9/11

Division: Information Technology Branch

Unit: Security

Location: Pocatello, ID

Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary: GS9: $59,966.00 - $77,955.00 (Locality)

GS11: $72,553.00 - $94,317.00

Full Performance level: GS11

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

GS9:

  • Incumbent participates in security compliance reviews, surveys and inspections of all FBI space maintaining NSI and other sensitive information to determine adherence to FBI/DOJ security regulations and policies.
  • Assists higher grade employees in determining the type of safeguards, space restrictions, tracking systems and guidelines which govern the movements, handling, storage, and protection provided NSI and other sensitive information.
  • Assists in preparing security plans and procedures. Maintains appropriate historical records, directives, executive orders, other related documents and databases.

GS11:

In addition to the above duties:

  • Ensures the safety and integrity of all facilities, equipment and personnel.
  • Processes background/security-related investigations.
  • Reviews records and information on investigations.
  • Advises on methods to handle, store and destroy classified information.
  • Provides guidance on established security policies and procedures and analyzes security procedures to provide clarification of office personnel.

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS7 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience utilizing systems to assist in developing and extracting information.
  • Experience applying governing orders and directives to ensure compliance when carrying out assignments.
  • Experience conducting security interviews and briefings in order to prepare analysis.

GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

In addition to the above SE:

  • Experience writing clear, comprehensive and concise reports.
  • Experience applying security principles, concepts and methodologies in carrying out assignments.


Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS-9: Applicant must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
