Position Summary:
This position oversees the technical needs of onsite MHS public programs and events, internal programs (such as meetings and trainings) and rentals, at all 3 MHS locations: Library and Research Center, Missouri History Museum, and Soldiers Memorial Military Museum. Production support includes lighting, audio, video, and projection, and the Coordinator works closely with internal and external stakeholders to determine the needs, the best way to allocate resources, and the plan for execution.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the technical aspects of programs.
    • Reconcile the Production calendar and manage requests for MHS programs and events, including internal programs (such as meetings and trainings) and rentals, at all 3 MHS locations: Library and Research Center, Missouri History Museum, and Soldiers Memorial Military Museum. This includes direct streaming for onsite events and hybrid events with livestream when capacity allows and streaming is prioritized by Director of Education and Community Engagement or MHS leadership.
    • Advise on immediate production needs, including maintenance, repairs, replacements, and purchasing.
    • Work alongside production technicians as needed to facilitate technical support at all MHS programs and events. Attendance at some evening and weekend events is required.
    • Actively participate in production meetings in preparation for events.
  • Support content production.
    • Work with Production Manager to produce audio recordings for audio tours, audio descriptive tours, and additional accessibility audio recordings. This includes editing and ensuring the transfer and delivery of produced content.
    • Work with the Production Team to produce additional audio and video content that supports the programming of the Education and Community Engagement Department as needed and as capacity allows. Additional institutional recording projects can be considered as capacity allows; ECE Department needs are priority.
    • Coordinate media materials (such as images to be used in video content or live events).
  • Work with the Production Manager to ensure that the Production Team is using best practices. Assist with trainings occasionally.
  • Oversee technology and equipment inventory for all MHS locations.
  • Safeguard institutional production assets (spaces, equipment, etc.).
  • Participate in institution-wide committees and exhibit teams as assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team-building opportunities.
  • Stay informed about current technology and best practices in production.

Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent project, time, and budget management skills (ability to meet deadlines and work within budget constraints).
  • Ability to assess needs and strategize in the moment
  • Dedication to upholding brand standards
  • Ability to work independently and among a team effectively (including multiple internal and external stakeholders)
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours is required.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of school toward Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or vocational training in audio production, video production, lighting production, theater studies, event or conference support, or related field preferred. Relevant work experience also considered.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in technical production.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in digital media or content production preferred.
