Job Description
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for instructing staff and residents in food handling, preparation, sanitation, safety, and storage; performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
• Cooks meals in quantities according to menu and number of portions to be served, including batch cooking.
• Washes and sanitizes dishes and cooking equipment.
• Bakes breads and pastries. • Cleans, cuts, and prepares meat, poultry, and fish.
• Ensures that all individuals and groups receive a meal. • Maintains kitchen cleanliness at all times, including sweeping and mopping of floors.
• Prepares and provides the ingredients or supplies required for catering events.
• Trains and coaches new and current employees.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• AAS, CC certification, or equivalent experience.
• Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
o Food Service Sanitation Certificate preferred.
• Other skills required:
o Education and training in food management, culinary preparation, or food service preferred.
o 1+ years of food service experience.
o Knowledge of general principles and approaches for providing food services.
o Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
o Ability to maintain professional composure in emotional and complex situations.
o Able to maintain organized workspace and documentation.
o Perform work duties with limited supervision. o Work in an environment with frequent periods of moderate to loud noise
