Product Manager – Programming Software
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
The newly created Product Management team at General Motors is adding a Product Manager position that will be focused on the Over the Air (OTA) and Flash Programming software for the Software & Services Platform Product Management group. This position will make a substantial contribution to the overall success of the organization. The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) OS Programming software is a key enabler for General Motors Software and Services strategy. We are looking for inspiring individuals who will lead cross-functional teams to deliver products that excite our customers.
As the Product Manager for SDV OS Programming Software , you will be responsible for developing, managing, and driving product initiatives across the organization. This also includes working with cross-functional teams, conducting market research, and collaborating with other teams to ensure the successful launch of new products. The role requires strong analytical skills, communication ability, and a passion for delivering exceptional products that meet customer needs.
What You’ll do:
Lead and collaborate with a large set of stakeholders to identify, build, and test customer value propositions
Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap based on customer needs and market trends
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure product goals and priorities alignment
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities and potential threats
Define and track key metrics using KPCs and KPIs to measure product success and inform future decisions
Communicate product updates, progress, and plans to stakeholders across the organization, including executives, customers, and partners
Manage product launches, including developing go-to-market strategies and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches
Conduct post-launch analysis to evaluate product performance and identify areas for improvement
Continuously iterate and improve the product based on user feedback, market trends, and business goals
Communicate complex subjects in a simple and straightforward way
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior product team members, sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
5+ years of Software Engineering experience
Deep knowledge of relevant Programming software, including Over The Air updates, Flashing, Encryption and Data Transfer
Product Management experience including Roadmap Definitions, Benchmarking (competitors and new technologies) and Program Execution
Strong interpersonal and networking skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels of the company
Deep understanding of software and hardware development
Broad industry knowledge of software technologies, including high-end compute platforms
Must be a skilled problem solver that utilizes data and experience to identify problems and solutions
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
2+ years of software-related Product Management experience
Experience with the Linux and Android operating systems
Deep knowledge of software process, including CI/CD pipeline and quality metrics
Experience with software languages including C, C++, Java and/or Python
Strong understanding of major automotive systems and subsystems
Strong understanding of Global Vehicle Development Process and program execution deliverables
