Job Description
Manages new product introduction and production support engineering for a specific product or group of products after transfer from design to in-house or outsourced production. Interfaces with design, process, test, reliability and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems. Develops and sustains process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manages, supports, and coordinates projects, with minimal guidance from management.
- Leads and takes ownership of a design and/or project/sub-projects and ensures accountability for meeting deadlines for relevant design deliverables throughout the process.
- Communicate effectively with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, and other cross-functional departments.
- Lead process improvement teams intended to increase throughput by reducing process time and increasing yield.
- Use Lean Six Sigma practices in daily activities and problem-solving situations.
- Interfaces directly with R&D/Design engineering in the design of new components and assemblies.
- Participates in design reviews, and engineering analysis in support of New Product Development (NPD) projects.
- Collaborates and contributes value in design reviews and communicates to teams in engineering and product managers to produce superior solutions.
- Supports new products meet quality specifications and advisement given is in keeping with internal processes, industry best practices, and meets customer and regulatory requirements.
- Work with R&D engineers to transfer new products to the production line to ensure manufacturability. Setup production line, SPC charts and yield report for the new production lines.
- Conceives and develops solutions, (equipment and processes) to meet objectives of volume manufacturing.
- Leverages understanding of various manufacturing processes and other production methods to ensure design solutions are manufacturable.
- Ensures all objectives regarding aesthetics, functionality, specifications, and manufacturability are met.
- Recommends design approaches and solutions to technical problems affecting factories/suppliers on routine matters and obtains assistance from peers, other departments, and engineering management on critical issues.
- Coordinates with the various Engineering Departments to resolve assembly, design, and measurement and/or specification issues.
- Supports technical based processes on projects such as: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) reviews.
- Investigate new methods of manufacturing or technology to improve current processes, increase capacity and throughput.
- Coordinate the installation, debugging and setup of new fixturing.
- Collaborate and advise in the installation of new manufacturing equipment and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Business, Project Management or Engineering
- Prefer a candidate that has experience across several operational disciplines in a contract manufacturing environment.
Candidate will possess extensive experience in a minimum of two skills in the following areas: procurement, planning,
production management, master scheduling, factory engineering, logistics and program management.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
- Strong understanding of contract manufacturing environment and Bill of Material management
- Proven record of managing and driving continuous process improvement activities. Strong analytical skills, ability to identify root cause for action/resolution.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $109,600.00 - $146,000.00 per year
