Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Engineer to join our team at our Macon, GA plant. The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing and improving batch chemical processes, troubleshooting issues, ensuring process safety, and managing projects to maintain plant reliability and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in batch chemical manufacturing, project management, and a deep understanding of fundamental engineering concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage batch chemical process projects, including equipment specification, design, construction, and maintenance.
• Ensure optimal operation of process equipment, including steam, cooling tower scrubbers, and chillers to maintain production within cost parameters.
• Develop and execute project budgets and plans to achieve financial goals.
• Identify and research new technologies to improve efficiency and output.
• Troubleshoot process and mechanical equipment to resolve day-to-day production challenges.
• Prepare process documentation and operating instructions for new and existing equipment.
• Analyze manufacturing and equipment data to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Coach production and maintenance teams on technical matters.
• Utilize continuous improvement techniques and lean tools to achieve KPI targets.
• Act as the primary liaison between maintenance, operations, production, and warehouse.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical drawings of equipment, processes, and facility.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 2 to 6 years of experience in batch chemical manufacturing, including project management.
• Solid understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, including heat transfer, mass transfer, pressure drop, vacuum, process control, and reaction chemistry.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and PSM regulations related to process design and plant operations.
• Proficiency in design tools (simulation, historian, process equipment) and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read standard blueprints, machine and process drawings, and sketch or redline existing drawings.
• Knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, and TPM techniques preferred.
• Self-starter, team-oriented, and willing to develop expertise in other areas.
