- Execute controls design, implement, integrate, and commission Global Propulsion System (GPS) Material Handling and Machine Tending systems for conventional passenger vehicle and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS), fuel cell, and engine manufacturing at component plants including industry 4.0-based Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based controls, Plant Floor Systems (PFS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Error Proofing Systems (EPS) including Quality Andon System (QAS), Global Production Management Control System (GPMC), and Global Standard Inspection Process (GSIP).
- Design, implement, and optimize automation and safety controls for industrial machining equipment, error proofing systems, and plant floor networks, ancillary equipment (load/unload tooling, washers), robotics, material handling, parts sorting, conveyors, third party manufacturing process equipment, and automation controls technologies including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, Studio5000, and Design Studio tools.
- Required travel in Michigan to GM Factory Zero and Flint Engine Plant to evaluate progress of PLC-based machinery builds, to lead controls automation projects for plant floor data collection, up to 40 days P/A (equal to ~11% annual travel).
Additional Description
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and one (1) year of experience as an Engineer, or related role.
- Must also have experience with: designing and implementing automation and safety controls for industrial machining equipment, plant floor networks, material handling, and automation controls technologies including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Design Studio tools.
