Position Summary / Career Interest:
The PRN Clinical Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients. This consists of ensuring drug therapy that results in safe, effective, and cost conscious use of pharmaceuticals. Must demonstrate excellent interdisciplinary communication and exhibit strong educational and precepting abilities.Responsibilities:
- Receives and interprets medication orders and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products
- Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records
- Completes pharmacokinetics consults ordered during their shift determining medication dosing
- Provides information and education patient/family regarding medications
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners; suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification in chosen area ofspecialty preferred Education: Graduate of a Bachelors or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy
- Pharmacist licensure in state of primary practice site
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Kansas or eligibility for licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Preferred:
- Completion of an accredited post graduate training program (PGY-1 and/or PGY02) residency program
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal ResuscitationProgram (NRP) certification as necessary
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as necessary
