Overview

Responsible for the management of the Private Banking Specialists throughout the JFG footprint, including performance management, recruiting, training, and development.  Ensure that staff meets service level expectations in concurrence with the Client Engagement Cycle.  Outside of management duties, primary responsibility is to provide banking and portfolio administrative support to Private Banking Relationship Managers within a specific geographic area (or within the JFG footprint).  Must have advanced knowledge of banking and personal finance principles and expert knowledge of workflow and processes, including superior administrative and organizational skills.  Role includes independent decision making and ability to approve exceptions within established guidelines, rarely referring specific cases to manager unless clarification or interpretation of organization policy is involved. Will expertly perform all functions within the Private Banking Specialist role and will manage and regularly provide training and guidance to more junior associates. Must be able to work with highly confidential information while delivering an exceptional level of professionalism that will enhance the Johnson Financial Group experience and positively impact new business development, client referral and retention efforts. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports and leads direct reports by being available for questions and task assistance. Able to independently evaluate and solve for situations that occur within the Private Banking Specialist team. 
  • Identify trends and/or gaps in servicing process to create efficiencies for clients, assistants and bankers. Make recommendations to streamline processes.
  • Complete and/or facilitate special projects and tasks as assigned by manager.
  • Ensure all regions are properly staffed to meet both client and banker expectations.
  • Ensure staff has regular timely and thorough communication with regional Private Banking leaders and regional Private Banking teams.
  • Responsible for thorough communication with Private Banking Specialists, including and not limited to, team meetings, 1:1 meetings and written correspondences.
  • Monitors task flow (via Regional inbox activity) and productivity throughout regions.
  • Understanding of and ability to articulate full scope of JFG products and services.
  • Responsible for accurately opening, closing and performing maintenance on accounts within bank operating systems including the administration of the NAICS coding assignments.
  • Proactively assist and train clients on effective use of full breadth of JFG products including on-line and mobile banking solutions.
  • Assists with loan requests including; compiling information for loan packages, requesting document preparation, prepare and review documents for accuracy prior to closing and submitting closed loans for processing.
  • Process various client requests including but not limited to; wire transactions, funds transfers, line draws and loan payments.
  • Research and assist in resolving client inquiries and issues to resolution; displays initiative to problem solve and escalate when appropriate, has the ability to work independently.
  • Prepare correspondence, documents, reports, proposals, and other administrative work as requested.
  • Proactively schedules client appointments and meetings, acts as the key liaison for organizing and managing Private Banking events.
  • Utilize effective use of the JFG CRM system as the primary tool for managing client relationships.

Management

  • Effectively communicate performance expectations; monitor and hold staff accountable for their performance and their actions.
  • Act as a 'Coach' for associates to leverage strengths and understand and identify gaps in performance; conducts one-on-one meetings and timely appraisal of performance.
  • Provide development opportunities for staff aligning with their career goals and develops 'bench strength' for key positions.
  • Proactively recruit and maintain a pipeline of candidates who display requisite job skills and exhibit values consistent with Johnson Financial Group.
  • Create and sustain an environment which supports teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Communicates to team: corporate updates, business updates, etc. and conducts regular, meaningful team/department meetings.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels to efficiently execute department responsibilities.
  • Uses financial information to identify and implement cost containment or reduction programs and ensure expenditures are accurate and follows policies and procedures.
  • Models exemplary behaviors and actions for associates.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years experience in the financial services industry with at least 1 year in a Private Banking or Relationship Banker role; work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Previous management experience preferred including coaching and developing others, as well as ability to effectively manage through change initiatives.
  • Consumer or commercial credit experience highly desired.
  • Ability to consistently and confidently demonstrate high quality decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback.
  • Exhibits a positive approach to work duties and seeks ways to find efficiencies without sacrificing quality.
  • Must demonstrate excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of business professionalism, initiative, and ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize without sacrificing quality.
  • Proven organization and analytical skills; attention to detail and thorough follow-up skills critical.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with full MS Office Suite of products and all applicable bank operating systems.
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the Safe Act of 2008 required.
