Our strategic unit with Collins, Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS), provides advanced information management systems, products and services that enable the connected aviation ecosystem by bringing together Collins' unique breadth of aviation products with our smart digital solutions to help us enhance every aspect of the end-to-end travel experience. The Network and Connectivity Engineering (NCE) Team within CAS Engineering has the responsibility Air Traffic Control and Airline operational data on a secure, high-availability communication system between aircraft and their airline hosts systems and Civil Aviation Authorities. This worldwide communication system consists of diverse technologies including RF, private WAN networking, Network Management, Data Analytics, Embedded Communication Protocols, Mobility management algorithms, and High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions. Over the next 5 years the NCE team, working in a hybrid, highly collaborative environment that fosters employee engagement and teamwork, will be engineering the modernization and overhaul of the world's largest Air-to-Ground airline operation and air traffic communication system.
As a Technical Project Manager on the NCE team, you will be acting as lead of innovative teams responsible for designing and developing our next generation of industry-leading communication products. The candidate will work with engineering management, program management, technical engineering leads across multiple disciplines, and engineering support groups. This is an engineering leadership position with focus on the full lifecycle of communications systems to provide solutions and support for commercial and government aviation customers. The organizational objective is to successfully design, develop, integrate, and maintain a lab infrastructure network and interfaces to the corporate back-office network. This is an ideal role for anyone who enjoys leading network solutions and migrations and/or is interested in a leadership role in in the future. YOU will play a pivotal role in this high growth and high visibility area of the Collins Aerospace company.
What YOU will do:
  • YOU will scope yearly engineering work.
  • YOU will develop an upgrade and migration roadmap.
  • YOU will lead a cross-development team between the production networking engineers and the corporate network engineers.
  • YOU will oversee the full life cycle of the project.

Education & Experience:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications you must have:
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • Experience as a Technical Project Manager, Product Owner, Product Manager, and/or Project Manager with proficiency in project and program management concepts, methodologies, practices, and technologies.
  • Experience in Network solutions and migrations.
  • Experience in designing High-Availability systems.
  • Experience in the System Engineering lifecycle from Statement of Need development to system requirement and design.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey.
