POSITION: Middle School Principal
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Middle School principal serves as the chief administrator of the school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum, safety, and building budgets in a manner that promotes student growth and development opportunities, both educationally and personally. This position will commence on January 22, 2024.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
COMPENSATION: Per the Carrollton Public Schools Administrative Contract. Years of experience will be considered when negotiating salary.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND OTHER CREDENTIALS:
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Administration.
- Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years of building administrator experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of exemplary secondary teaching experience.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, central office, and school-based staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Must have experience working with at-risk students, their parents, and families and demonstrated evidence of cultural awareness, sensitivity, acceptance, and appreciation.
- Must have knowledge and experience in MiCIP, MTSS, and NWEA.
- Must have knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services.
- Must receive a satisfactory response to P.A. 189 letter. (Misconduct Law)
- Must satisfactorily pass:
- Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting
- Personal and professional reference background check.
- Must possess or be willing to complete training in Restorative Justice Practices, CPI Certification, and Adult/Infant/CPR/First Aid certification.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Relate to Middle School students and display effective and innovative ideas for building relationships, creating a school culture that is conducive to student learning and staff development.
- Manage, supervise, and implement master schedules, programs of study, school improvement processes, best practices in instruction and assessment, and facilitate effective professional development.
- Use student data to provide leadership in curriculum development, student achievement, and instructional best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate teacher and staff performance (Danielson Model), as well as program effectiveness.
- Understand and comply with legal and regulatory standards: including State, Federal, and Special Education.
- Understand and maintain proper and accurate pupil accounting and financial accounting budgets and records.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of Middle School students and programming; possess the ability to create interventions to assist struggling students.
- Adhere to the board of education approved student handbook and district policies.
- Possess outstanding work ethic and high standards for work performance.
- Supervise and attend student extracurricular activities.
- Respect and keep confidential student, parent, and staff information.
- Possess high levels of proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications is preferred.
- Assure positive attitudes toward students, parents, staff, and visitors are cultivated and that effective skills in human relations are developed and practiced.
- Advocate for a child-centered approach to school and student management and extend that expectation to staff.
- Utilize restorative justice practices where appropriate and support school staff in building a positive culture where students and staff feel valued, welcomed, and supported to fulfill their academic and professional potential.
- Provide leadership and shared responsibility to establish a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning by all students.
- Assist in the promotion of student voice and utilization of resources to support youth in becoming active and engaged participants in their academic experience.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Minimum of 5 years of exemplary Middle School teaching experience.
- Education Specialist or Advanced Graduate Studies.
