As part of the CertainTeed Roofing Pricing Team, the Deduction/Credit Specialist is responsible for the research and resolution of customer deductions as well as issues that arise with quality, freight, service, customer returns and pricing. This position will work with other members of the CertainTeed Pricing team as well as cross-functionally with Credit, Customer Master, Cash Application, BU Controllers, Tax, Sales and manufacturing in order to research, resolve, and reconcile customer opportunities related to deductions and requests for credit. This position is responsible for accurate & timely credit processing, while minimizing downstream transactional adjustments where possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Investigate deductions and short pays to bring to resolution, performing analysis, and presenting reporting content for multiple lines of business.
- Ensure that credit requests from the businesses have appropriate backup and approvals required in order to process credits in SAP.
- Research and resolve Salesforce.com cases arising from shipment related issues including freight, quantity, transportation, product damages etc.
- Assist in the liaison effort between Sales, Finance, Credit, and Cash Application in order to identify and resolve customer process issues and/or discrepancies and generate the appropriate data and reporting content to support conclusions.
- Assist in resolving unique, complex, and often data intense payment issues directly related to customer deals, on invoice discounting, back end programs, complete/incomplete shipments, or other drivers of price/rebate disputes leading to customer invoice and payment discrepancies.
- The candidate will work to develop great customer relationships to improve our ability to resolve imperfect business transactions which impact full payment of invoices and CertainTeed profitability.
With Finance or Accounting degree, 3-4 years' progressive experience. Without a degree, a minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in pricing, accounts payable/receivable, or accounting. Must have strong communication abilities (written and verbal) as well as PC and systems abilities gained through education and/or experience. Must demonstrate capabilities in the following areas:
- A thirst for investigating, unravelling, and resolving complex, advanced pricing and/or rebate discrepancies with customers. Requires outstanding communication skills both internally with mid-senior management and externally to customers. Good presentation skills and self-confidence.
- A strong systems acumen and aptitude. SAP experience a plus, in addition to SalesForce.
- Advanced excel skills are a necessity.
- Comfortability in interacting with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
- An ability to work collaboratively within a high-performance team and a willingness to learn.
- A desire to be part of a key group built on a culture of trust, empowerment, and a results orientation
- Requires intuitive and analytical thought process to reach decisions independently. Must be able to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve customer problems or needs. Must possess in-depth customer and product knowledge in order to determine the correct action path. No problem or issues are the same, so prescribed responses are not normally available.
