Job Description
The Program Support Specialist performs a variety of back-office clerical functions, most of which are related to setting up and maintaining the accounts of clients utilizing the Agency’s Debt Management Program (DMP). A Program Support Specialist may have specific duties related to administering the Agency’s debt management programs, however, all Program Support Specialists are expected to be knowledgeable about the various functions related to the administration of the DMP.
- Assist in setting up and processing the Agency’s Debt Management Programs.
- Assist with maintenance and support of electronic funds transfers between clients and creditors.
- Maintain effective and ongoing communications with clients and creditors to ensure accounts are set up correctly and payments are disbursed timely.
- Respond to client inquiries; assess clients’ requests and respond directly or route requests to the appropriate person.
- Accurately notate and manage conversations with clients or creditors in the Agency’s software system (CreditSoft).
- Investigate and resolve client concerns or issues related to the Agency’s Debt Management Program.
- Process client payoffs and terminations
The position requires previous customer service experience or employment with a financial institution. The position also requires excellent verbal, telephonic, and writing skills, keen attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, and the ability to work in a team environment. Sensitivity to differences in cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential. The ability to maintain confidentiality is critical. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
