  • Monday through Friday Availability Required.
  • Rotating Saturday Availability Required.
  • Hybrid/Remote Work Eligible after 1 year of employment and supervisor approval.

Role: A Centralized Lending Specialist I's primary responsibility is to assist the Centralized Lending Coordinator and all other Lending staff with processing and approving real estate secured and other consumer loan applications. This is accomplished by creating, updating and distributing all required loan documents through the loan workflow process from application through decision and closing. The Centralized Lending Specialist will review loan applications for completeness and follow up with loan originators for missing information required for completion. Prepares and distributes all necessary loan documentation including required notices and disclosures to borrowers and lenders. Acts as a liaison between lending staff and facilitates communication regarding loan status and closing dates; contacting settlement agencies for closing date coordination as needed.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 35% - Receive loan applications from lenders. Review loan documents, verifying the accuracy, completeness and compliance of all collected and supporting loan documentation. Makes decision to approve, decline, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
  • 35% - Prepares and distributes all necessary loan documentation including required notices and disclosures to borrowers, lenders and dealerships.
  • 10% - Adhere to various compliance regulations that apply to residential mortgage loans, indirect and various other consumer loans to prevent monetary penalties and audit violations. Ability to fulfill credit union compliance requirements, including but not limited to; Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Regulatory Compliance, FCRA and Flood regulations.
  • 10% - Obtain payoffs and releases. Order title searches, flood searches and appraisals. Review results of searches and report findings to underwriter, updating the loan records as necessary. Ensure property insurance policies are in force to ensure protection against loss of property. Prepare Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings as required.
  • 5% - Provide exceptional service to employees by assisting them with questions regarding processing, underwriting and closing of loans. Assist with borrower questions as needed.
  • 5% - Performs other job related duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

  1. Receive loan applications from lenders. Review applications for accuracy, completeness and compliance. Makes decision to approve or decline loan requests up to authorized level and forwards requests outside of approved level to senior lender. Performs underwriting duties including analyzing applicants’ current financial position to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  2. Obtain payoffs and releases as necessary. Order title searches, flood searches and appraisals. Review results of searches and report findings to underwriter, updating the loan records as necessary. Ensure property insurance policies are in force to ensure protection against loss of property.
  3. Produce accurate and complete loan documentation per loan requirements. Meet established deadlines for underwriting and closing.
  4. Organize and track status of requested information needed for each loan. Follow up with service providers and lenders as necessary to communicate needs and status of requested items.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve lender and borrower inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to all borrowers and lenders.
  7. Regularly use provided Credit Union information systems to log loan activity and update notes on status of applications so all underwriters and lending staff can review at any time, e.g. Help Desk Ticket, Meridian Link, etc.
  8. Ensure accurate Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data is prepared for loan auditing.
  9. Accurately scan and file loan documents as needed in a timely manner.
  10. Provide support to the Indirect Lending department as required. This includes underwriting indirect auto loans, making dealer contacts, completing all necessary documentation and other tasks required to process an indirect auto loan.
  11. Participate in training and professional development activities to acquire and maintain standards established by the credit union. This could include attending conferences, seminars and workshops as directed by management.
  12. Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the credit union loan products, policies and procedures, standards and relevant industry, state and federal government rules and regulations. These may include but are not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Truth in Lending, Fair Lending, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA and the SAFE Act.
  13. Becomes familiar with and abides by policies, procedures and guidelines set forth by the credit union, e.g. Security, Bank Secrecy Act; Confidentiality; etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience - One year to three years of similar or related experience working at a financial institution with consumer loans and lending is required.
Education - (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills - Must have good communication skills. 10-key calculator, typewriter, and keyboard skills. Must be organized and be able to prioritize tasks and activities to meet set deadlines and service standards. Must be comfortable working independently with moderate supervision of work.
Physical Requirements - Involves sitting most of the time. Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper and electronic files and documents. Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; view a computer terminal; read and assess work quality.
Work Environment - Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

- State of Pennsylvania residency required.

- Position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. In order to be approved to work from home, a cable modem or fiber internet connection is required which must have minimum service speed of 10M download / 2M upload, with less than 1% packet loss. Internet service and modem are the employee's expense.
