Job Description
Position Summary: The Preschool Director is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the educational program within all classrooms. This role is responsible for meeting the licensing and accreditation requirements from Quality Rated, NAEYC, and Bright from the Start. The Head of School works with Lead and Assistant teachers to develop, implement, and supervise education programs that meet the school's mission and vision. The focus of this position is on the continual development of the staff to ensure that all children are reaching their full potential under our care. This role reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out the mission & vision of the school by working with all stakeholders to ensure a high-quality Preschool program
Support teachers in the design, development, and implementation of quality lesson plans
Observe classroom lessons and provide feedback and coaching aligned to the staff member's development plan
Oversee progress of staff Professional Learning Plan's (PLP)
Engage with families in a proactive and consistent manner including educating families on best practices in child development
Provide information, enrollment procedures, and tours for prospective families
Recruitment, hiring, and retention of high-quality teachers
Design and communicate summer programming
Coordinate staff training and ensure staff meet or exceed state required training expectations
Ensure proper supervision in all classrooms aligned to state ratio regulations and substitute in classroom when required
Ensure all state regulations aligned to the educational program are implemented successfully
Report all accidents to the Executive Director immediately, prepare written report regarding accident details
Provide weekly playground and classroom licensing compliance report
Provide weekly ratio report to Executive Director
Provide weekly summary of professional learning hours for staff, classroom observations and feedback/next steps to Executive Director
Pland and deliver staff meetings, school events, and complete required trainings
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood education or similar
- Knowledge of Quality Rated standards and implementation
- Strong leadership capacity
- Strong skills related to parental engagement
