BANC is State of CT Licensed Childcare Center that provides Afterschool Programming to students attending New Lebanon Elementary School. BANC is an Afterschool Program that dedicates itself to the surrounding community by nurturing children in their social and emotional growth and provides them with an opportunity to explore the world through play and interaction with other children. The program serves over 80 children in grades: Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade who attend New Lebanon Elementary School.
BANC strives to support education and decrease the achievement gap by providing educational enrichment programs such as: homework and reading help, arts and crafts, reading program, gym, dramatic play, and educational opportunities.
BANC Preschool Afterschool Program, children will receive a structured, developmentally appropriate program that uses play and exploration to foster learning. The preschool Afterschool Program provides opportunities for growth and development through play in the areas of communication, cognition, self-management, fine and gross motor skill and social-emotional skills.
Reports to the Youth Program Administrator/Director and to Preschool Head Teacher.
Season: Week of August 21, 2023 through the end of June 2024 (school year position)
Applicants must be available to work Monday-Friday from 2:00pm-5:30pm
High school diploma or GED
Minimum age of 18 years old to meet State of Connecticut, Office of Early Childhood regulationsAssociate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate is preferred
Experience working with preschool age children preferably in a preschool setting
Applicants will be required to complete CPR and First Aid Training.
Applicants will be required to complete a State of CT background check and fingerprinting.ESSENTIAL FEATURES:
Provide afterschool childcare to preschool age children at New Lebanon Elementary School.
Assist the teacher in planning and maintaining a safe, clean, learn/play environment and ensure the well-being and safety of the children in their care.
Assist the teacher in planning and implementing activities both indoors and outdoors with children between the ages of 3-4 years, consistent with the curriculum guide, resources and training provided.
Support the teacher with providing a comprehensive program to meet educational, emotional, social, physical, intellectual and psychological needs of the children.
Assist the teacher to conduct a developmental assessment for each child to determine the child's strengths and areas in which each child may need extra assistance.
Collaborate with the teacher, children, volunteers, parents, and program specialists to coordinate programming.
Provide assistance to the teacher in preparing supplies for projects and assist with clean up.
Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
Follow all BANC policies and procedures set forth in the BANC Staff handbook.
Provide for physical needs of the children, within the parameters of the job (e.g. toileting, lifting).
Attend in-service trainings and other trainings as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Ability to maintain a positive, calm attitude and voice, and to encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom.
Exhibits a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children.
