NAES Staffing Services is looking for Shift Supervisors to work in Denton Texas. Currently, this contract is through the year (ending in Dec 2024) and paying $60 - $65 per hr with a daily per diem of $157 for non-local residents. Prior conventional Power Plant experience is required.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the management and oversight of the operations shifts for a 428-MW or 126-MW natural gas fired combined cycle plant. These are gas-fired Power Plants and prior plant experience is required.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and manage performance of assigned Production Technicians to ensure safe, compliant and reliable operations of (5) steam-drum units, (1) gas turbine, and (1) hydro unit located at three different sites
2. Ensure effective communication between the control room and Garland’s Qualified Scheduling Entity.
3. Assist with the development of procedures and/or processes to improve compliance, efficiency, reliability, and safety. Conduct periodic reviews of current operating procedures and/or processes to enhance comprehension and compliance.
4. Provide developmental and technical coaching to staff. Construct developmental plans for staff based upon long-term career goals and required training. Ensure Operations and Maintenance training to Production Technicians and ensure progress of individual qualifications by area.
5. Work through direct reports to ensure effective operation of electric power generating assets and completion of assigned deliverables. Ensure all plant objectives are met by staff.
6. Ensure adequate shift coverage. Promptly address any attendance issues as necessary.
7. Address any safety, productivity, compliance and/or efficiency issues in a timely manner.
8. Conduct effective walk downs of plant areas and equipment to proactively identify safety and unit reliability opportunities. Monitor and evaluate plant equipment and systems to ensure reliability and cost-effective plant operations.
9. Lead and coordinate efforts, with the engineering and maintenance departments, to resolve operational problems and recommend measures for mitigation or improvement. Assist with development of day-to-day maintenance strategy.
10. Assist with development and review of operational budgets to ensure production goals are achieved. Provide “hands-on” operation of the generating assets during times of extreme off-normal conditions.
11. Monitor plant operations for compliance with NERC/ERCOT, safety, and environmental requirements.
12. Keep Operations Manager abreast with any threats to or changes in critical equipment, fuel and/or unit availability.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
8 or more years of experience in control room, auxiliary, operator, or maintenance in electric Power Plant or fossil-fuel power generating plant.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Education/ Experience:
- Associate degree in science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 2 years of supervisory experience in a power generation plant or a heavy industrial setting
