The Role
Power Aggregator/Power Control Integration Manufacturing Engineer at General Motors is a fast-paced team that is working on developing technology. We're creating groundbreaking power controlling systems that provide industry leading performance for current and future GM Vehicles. Our team is integral to achieving GM’s vision of Zero Emissions, Zero Crashes, and Zero Congestion. This position will provide electrical equipment control in support of software defined vehicles, build process strategy, and vehicle in-process testing. The purpose is to provide environments for development, evaluate, test, and integrate general assembly use cases.
In this role you’ll be responsible for product development activities for Power Distribution Module and Aggregators of Low Voltage to enable the system for vehicle testing. You will get the opportunity to work within a collaborative team and your contributions will directly affect the quality, durability and performance of future hybrid, plugin and battery electric vehicles manufactured by GM. In this role, creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is needed. What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Coordinate design and integration of Power Distribution Module and Aggregators of Low Voltage and Low Voltage components for in-process vehicle testing system architecture.
Provides technical leadership
Utilize Engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems
Effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management
Operate with an elevated level of independent judgement
Responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering, and coordinating programs, counseling, and advising management
Conduct technical design reviews and initiate applicable drawing reviews
Complete and review DFMEAs and DRBFMs for all parts / design changes
Demonstrate designs meet requirements by analysis, development, and validation
Execute and support Peer Reviews per program milestones
Work with component suppliers to meet program imperatives (Quality, Cost and Timing)
Work as part of a diverse team supporting component development including mechanical design, thermal/structural/ and electrical analysis
Work with manufacturing to ensure build ability and to resolve quality requirements
Provide Program Management and execution of deliverables and program team meetings
Work with component suppliers to meet design and timing objectives
Generates technical solutions for current, new and major vehicle programs
Supports debug and validation at the Manufacturing Electrical Process Integration Center
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
5+ years of engineering experience
Understanding of Power Electronics and relative systems
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex, unusual and difficult
Time management skills to meet agreed upon customer deliverables, able to manage multiple projects
Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
Demonstrated technical and professional skills
Controller design experience
Digital, Analog, low voltage power supply design for Automotive products.
Low voltage and High voltage automotive experience.
Knowledge of power electronics operation and design, testing and development.
Knowledge of power electronics manufacturing.
High level of interest and a strong understanding of system level design / integration.
Some travel is required.
This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, DTAP or localization.
