The Finance Area consists of ten tenure-track faculty members and includes one endowed chair. Faculty members have diverse backgrounds and pursue a variety of research interests, including asset pricing, corporate finance, banking, household finance, labor finance, FinTech, and machine learning. They publish in the premier outlets of finance and adjacent fields, and their research has received numerous scholarly awards. Job SummaryThe Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia seeks applications to fill two Postdoctoral Fellow research positions in Finance. The selected candidate will closely collaborate with the finance area faculty at Scheller and can also be affiliated with Financial Services Innovation Lab and Quantitative and Computational Finance program at Georgia Tech.
The postdoc is expected to begin in August 2024, with start dates as late as January 2025 also being considered. The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed depending on mutual consent, satisfactory performance, and the availability of resources.
The selected candidates may also be able to get access to some proprietary datasets from the credit bureau as part of the research collaboration subject to appropriate approvals from the credit bureau and Georgia Tech.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this position include:
- Teaching one course at the undergraduate level per year.Advance several research projects from conceptualization through publication.Conduct research independently and in collaboration with faculty in the finance area at Scheller.Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.Contribute to the outreach activities of the finance area, including conference organization and workshops.Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in academic journals and/or presentation; assist in grant writing.Perform related duties based on the finance area needs.
There is flexibility with regard to the starting date to accommodate the selected candidate.
Required QualificationsA Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or other related quantitative field.
Preferred QualificationsCandidates should have a strong interest in applying these skills to large data sets in Financial Markets, Household Finance, and FinTech.
