SalaryThe City of Northfield, MN, population 20,790 is hiring for the position of Police Officer. Immediate openings for new and lateral officers.
Located just 45 minutes south of the twin cities, the 26 Northfield Police Officers work cooperatively in a team environment to serve with compassion and protect with honor. This position is responsible for fulfilling the mission of the Northfield Police Department to enhance the quality of life in our community by partnering with those we serve, to preserve the peace, enforce laws, reduce fear and provide for a safe environment for all our residents and guests.

Qualifications
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Law Enforcement, or a related field. • Licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Minnesota Post Board by July 1, 2024. • Applicants from other states must have proof of eligibility for licensure from the Minnesota Post Board by April 23, 2024. • Must have knowledge of community policing and problem solving, modern investigative methods, criminal law, search and seizure and evidence preservation, and excellent customer service skills. • Valid Minnesota Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
Special Requirements
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: • Previous experience working in a progressive, public law enforcement agency. • Spanish Fluency. • Minorities and Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

$39.47 - $48.83 per hour with an excellent benefit package. Starting wage and benefits are based on experience. Lateral transfer officers are encouraged to apply and will be compensated accordingly. A generous benefit package includes paid family leave and medical care time in addition to standard sick and vacation benefits.
