PLT (Low Voltage) Technician
Description of Position: This individual will work directly with the GSL Lighting Project Managers and Technicians to install and commission new entertainment lighting systems throughout the Midwest. System commissioning may include any of the following tasks: Low Voltage wiring terminations, lighting network-rack builds and installations, network configuration, testing and evaluation of network wiring installed by others, theatrical fixture assembly, theatrical fixture installation, system programming, etc. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000-$90,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Complete drawing analysis and takeoffs for jobs being estimated or quoted.
- Perform service calls troubleshooting existing systems and equipment.
- Assist with design/build jobs (lighting control system design)
- Prep, program, and install entertainment lighting fixtures
- Program lighting systems as per owner/contractor instructions
- Assist with data entry into our corporate accounting and project management software to ensure proper documentation and records for ongoing projects.
Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Lighting and Controls Manager.
Communication: The Lighting Technician position offers the opportunity to communicate with all members of the GSL team including the CEO, Department Managers, Project Managers, Technicians, and back- office staff to better understand overall business operations in this unique industry.
Qualifications:
- PLT license or PLT qualification hours are strongly preferred.
- A working knowledge of DMX, RDM, and lighting networking protocols preferred.
- Prior experience with entertainment lighting systems is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to jobsites throughout 5-state area including MN, WI, IA, SD & ND, and be out of town for several days at a time.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and/or networking systems aptitude preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with a design focus.
- Able to work at heights, climb ladders and lift/pull 50lbs.
- Professional communication skills are a must.
- Strong computer background using various software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows.
- Certified OSHA 30 Construction Safety Training (provided by GSL upon hiring if not current)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Able to pass background check to be on K-12 school properties.
- Previous experience with NetSuite, Smartsheet, and/or Dashpivot desired.
