Description
This role plays a crucial role in the setup and maintenance of molds for large tonnage Injection Molding presses ranging from 700 to 2200 tons. The mold setter will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of molds, which can weigh from 6,000 to 50,000 lbs, contributing to the production of high-quality plastic products.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently set up molds on Injection Molding presses, ensuring proper alignment, and clamping.
- Perform routine maintenance on molds, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of components as needed.
- Use hand tools to assemble, disassemble, and adjust molds as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues to minimize downtime and optimize production output.
- Collaborate with production teams to achieve production targets and maintain product quality.
- Assist in the development and implementation of mold changeover procedures and best practices.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle and transport molds safely.
- Inspect molds for wear and damage, recommending repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of mold setups, maintenance, and repairs.
- Complete other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Mold Setter in a Plastic Injection Molding manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in mold setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Injection Molding presses ranging from 700 to 2200 tons.
- Ability to handle molds weighing up to 50,000 lbs using overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and sometimes noisy industrial environment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and a dedication to maintaining a safe workplace.
