Job Description
LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels is assembling our core team in Soperton Georgia in to support the construction and startup of our SAF facility. For the ideal candidate, we have a unique and exciting opportunity to join LanzaJet Freedom Pines team.
We are seeking highly motivated Plant Operator to join our team. These positions are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the refinery and work rotating 12-hour shifts. The plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Refinery Plant Operator at this facility perform a variety of duties. Although responsibilities vary daily, the primary responsibility of an operator is to oversee the day-to-day operations of process, tank farm, and perform basic maintenance within the plant.
Details of responsibilities include:
- Monitor, control, and adjust, as necessary, process equipment from a central console in the control room.
- Understand and operate distributed control systems (DCS) and computer-based systems to control and monitor plant processes.
- Working inside and outside, in differing climatic conditions, and around noises, heat, heights and equipment associated with working in and around a bio-fuels facility
- Reading and interpreting standard operating procedures (SOP), Shift Logs, Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), Cause and Effect Diagrams, and other relevant documents
- Controlling our process through a computerized system.
- Conducting periodic rounds performing the following duties:
- monitoring equipment and recording readings
- making required adjustments
- Collecting samples and performing laboratory analysis
- Troubleshooting process and equipment problems including but not limited to: general equipment checks and detecting unusual operating conditions (such as noises, abnormal temperature or pressure, and leaks).
- Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
- Train and participating in emergency response activities.
- Support design, construction, commissioning, and startup of facility through actively participating in design reviews, HAZOP, PSSR, and equipment fit for service procedures.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the work area to ensure a safe working environment.
Refinery Plant Operator work in a safety-sensitive environment and must successfully complete a pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check. To ensure safe operations, employees must also successfully complete operator qualification training and participate in random drug and alcohol screenings.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age and HS Degree/GED required.
- Good mechanical aptitude, oral and written communication skills, and sound decision-making ability
- Fundamentals of chemistry and physical properties
- Ability to perform well in a team environment
- Willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Adherence to a strict Drug and Alcohol policy.
- Must comply with site and regulatory PPE requirements including OSHA Respiratory Protection and the company’s Respiratory Protection Program.
- 2-year Technical Certification program and/or associate degree in relevant field
- 2 years of prior chemical, petro-chemical, refinery, or other related industry experience
- Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt, and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting up to 55 pounds, carrying 10-20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds with mechanical assistance, and working in confined spaces.
- Must be able to walk, sit, stand, reach, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb ladders, work at heights, and have excellent balance.
