Back to all Jobs Plant Manager Closes On: April 30, 2024 at 11:59 PM CST Department: Public Works Job Status: Full-Time Rate of Pay: $52,000 - $60,000 Position Type: Full Time Status: Until Filled Apply Now Job Summary Supervises Plant Operators in the daily operations of the water and/or wastewater system plants; monitors and maintain treatment chemical inventory; monitors SCADA controls; ensures the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly monitor reports; monitors lab work; monitors all sampling for plant chemical feeds as well as ODEQ compliance; ensures plant and equipment are maintained. Experience Required: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a water and/or wastewater plant operator; minimum of one year of supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Minimum Education Requirements: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent. Direct Supervisor: Plant Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibility: Plant Operators; others when assigned.

Primary Work Location: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Employee may be exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens. Hepatitis B Vaccination is available. Job Responsibilities An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: A.

Plan, organize, and direct the daily activities of the water plant and/or wastewater plant personnel. B. Review, interpret, and make recommendations and adjustments based on water quality data.

C. Maintain and update facilities data records. D.

Review and enforce policies; handle employee matters and personnel issues as needed. E. Ensure that records are maintained for laboratory, maintenance, and plant logs and maintains and updates all other facilities data records.

F. Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance of the equipment of the water plant, wastewater plant and related facilities. G.

Analyze instrument readings, laboratory test results and operating records to assure that all federal and state water and wastewater regulations are followed, and all processes are being maintained; transport samples to laboratory as needed. H. Ensure proper calibration of all testing, analytical and measuring equipment.

I. Supervise the collection of representative samples from the plants and performs chemical, physical, and bacteriological tests to assure water quality; submits samples for testing as needed. J.

Respond to and manage emergency situations. K. Ensure that raw and finished water samples are taken as required to monitor water quality.

L. Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly samples are taken in the water/wastewater systems to monitor compliance with State and Federal regulations. M.

Make adjustments to chemical feed rates, plant operations and equipment as needed to maintain water quality. N. Ensure that maintenance to plant equipment, pumps, valves, and gauges is completed.

O. Ensure that general housekeeping duties of all plant buildings, reservoir, and plant grounds are completed. P.

Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge - Knowledge of state and federal environmental and water treatment /wastewater treatment plant regulations. Knowledge of biological, chemical, and mechanical principles of a water treatment plant and a wastewater treatment plant.

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Working knowledge of basic arithmetic. Familiar with city safety policies and procedures.

Skills - Use of computers and various software programs. Laboratory analysis of water and wastewater samples. Training and supervision of personnel.

Operation of calculator, two-way radio and motor vehicle. Abilities - Operate computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes. Operate highly technical computer applications, such as SCADA, GIS or CAD.

Operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools. Supervise employees using or repairing heavy or complex machinery. Supervise employees developing, installing, or repairing technology systems.

Maintain positive and effective working relationships with a diversified group of people. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications Required Licenses and Certifications: ODEQ "C" level water plant operator ODEQ "C" level wastewater plant operator ODEQ "C" level water laboratory ODEQ "C" level wastewater laboratory ODEQ "B" level water plant operator within 12 months Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Oklahoma driver's license Must be able to read and write the English language. Must be able to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be capable of driving a motor vehicle to travel to other locations on a frequent basis.
