Job Summary:

Lead an organization through a transformation into a world class company dedicated to its people and products. Responsible for manufacturing and distribution of all Tesco product lines and subassemblies produced in Sacramento, CA and throughout North America. As the industry leader of Transportation products, Water/Waste Water (WWW) products, Electronics (PLCs), and metal Enclosure Subassembly, Tesco is positioned for significant growth. Collaborating with our Supply Chain leadership they will be responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics associated with these product lines including management of a remote third-party logistics warehousing facility. Working closely with senior leadership, they will be the architect of the Tesco Operating System that will drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale across the enterprise. Must perform work within strict industry guidelines adhering to UL, NEC, CSIA and Tesco Controls, Inc. pre-established standards. Consults with other leadership in Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, Procurement and Technical Services to determine most efficient manufacturing of Tesco’s power distribution and control systems with adequate capacity and output to meet the Master Production Schedules demands of all related product lines. Relies on extensive hands-on experience, decision making skills, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a manufacturing floor-level work environment. Leads and directs the work of others and is responsible for developing the skills and capabilities of all related Managers, Supervisors, Leads and staff in the related departments and Work Centers.

Requirements:

Essential Functions:

  • Hands on leadership style dedicated to supporting a growing team eager to learn work group based manufacturing.
  • Servant leadership values with an oral and written communication style that can win the hearts and minds of the enterprise.
  • Daily floor level management of all manufacturing and logistics teams for all product lines
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates departmental activities to safely and efficiently fulfill the manufacturing requirements of all customer orders.
  • Manages, monitors, and maintains appropriate capacity in all manufacturing and logistics Work Centers to enable maximum production flow and throughput consistent with the business objectives of Tesco Controls Operating Plans
  • Coordinates metal enclosure fabrication (subassembly) for all related product lines, including equipment programming (Armada), metal fabrication, welding, preparation, and powder coating/paint departments
  • Prioritizes and sequences all assembly, wiring, and test activities in accordance with the Final Assembly & Test schedules defined in the Master Production Scheduler
  • Responsible for management, organization and “flow” of the facility in all metal fabrication areas, assembly and wiring PODs, test areas, inventory areas, and shipping/receiving areas
  • Plans and executes initiatives designed to improve the output and performance of the manufacturing facility – increase output, improve responsiveness, improve quality, and reduce cost
  • Manages and maintains accurate time keeping, operation sequence tracking, and QA verification for all work moving through the manufacturing and logistics processes
  • Ensures proper identification and tracking of inventory and WIP throughout the manufacturing and logistics processes to streamline production flow and maximize production output
  • Leads the safety program, safety training, incident reporting and safety related corrective and preventative actions in manufacturing and logistics
  • Leads LEAN manufacturing deployment – 5S, Waste Elimination, Visual Control Boards, Cadence, Gemba walks, Kaizen events, etc. including coordination and management of all Lean training, deployment and execution activities within manufacturing and logistics
  • Manage production employees using a “servant leader” approach promoting an empowered, accountable, team-based work environment
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance and plans the evolution of the facility and all related production equipment to support manufacturing activities
  • Uses all resources available to meet production goals and improve productivity
  • Manage the activities of all the manufacturing and logistics departments to follow established procedures and approved processes
  • Perform all other duties assigned to administer, maintain and develop the departmental capabilities

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a degree in a technical field, and/or 10-15 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities.
  • Over 5 years of experience in a managerial capacity over multiple product lines in manufacturing, preferable in Make-to-Order or Engineer-to-Order operation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly responsible for managing a Logistics team (Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Control)

Knowledge:

  • Ability to create a sustainable operating system in a low volume, high mix, engineered to order environment.
  • Data driven experience in leading the organization through daily, weekly and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Servant leadership skills, with an oral and written communication style that can win the hearts and minds of the enterprise.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Will be computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning and scheduling, inventory control, and logistics applications
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications and provide Engineering feedback (via red-lines) for continuous improvement
  • Must be familiar with electrical equipment construction and use applications
  • Must have complete knowledge of production planning, scheduling, inventory control, and logistics
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, equipment capabilities and related resources
  • Knowledge of the components of a good Quality Management System (QMS) and the disciplines needed to make it effective
  • Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing with specific emphasis on Lean techniques applicable to a low volume, high mix, engineer-to-order manufacturing operation
  • Basic computer skills including MS office, TRP, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and equipment programming (Armada)

Pay offered will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. We may pay more or less than the range based on the person’s qualifications. In good faith we believe the range is what we will pay for this role at the time of the posting and may change in the future.
