Job Description
Our client is seeking a summer intern within their Plant Breeding Research team. The internship will start in May 2024 and run until August 2024.
Pay rate is based on education and experience but starts at $18 an hour.
If the individual is in an undergrad program, they will start at $18 an hour. If they are a graduate of an undergrad program, in a grad program or have prior experience in the are of seed development, they will be offered $20 an hour. If they have both, they will be offered $24 an hour.
Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 with expectations to work overtime and some weekends
The Plant Breeding Research intern program is designed to give a broad-based exposure to the day-to-day activities of a research program. Interns in the program will be expected to participate in all aspects of the research center activities including planting, plot maintenance, data collection, harvesting and could travel to other locations to help on specific field related tasks. The individual will be involved with field plot research, planting, plot establishment and maintenance, organizing and completing herbicide, fungicide and insecticide treatment, harvesting and analyzing samples and data collection. A key component of the position will be the collection of high-quality data on specific traits being examined by the Company.
Qualifications: Individual wanting to learn more about field research trials related to crop hybrid cultivar development. Farm background beneficial. Individual must display a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative and ability to work well with others. Good communication and interpersonal skills along with strong computer aptitude are essential.
